Missing 85-year-old woman believed to have been killed in collision with truck in Bankstown

A person who was killed after being hit by a truck near Bankstown on Wednesday evening is believed to be missing 85-year-old woman Sabat Abdul Massih.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command were called to Rookwood Road in Potts Hill shortly before 7pm on Wednesday after multiple reports to triple zero that a person had been walking on the busy road.

Before police arrived, a B-double truck struck a female pedestrian. The 70-year-old truck driver was taken to Bankstown Hospital after trying to offer assistance, but the woman died at the scene.

While the woman has not yet been formally identified, Abdul Massih’s family have been notified.

The Cumberland woman was last seen walking on Cross Street, Guildford about 7am on Wednesday. Her disappearance concerned members of her family as she had dementia and other medical conditions.

Information received by police suggested she may have been in the Auburn area about 2pm on Wednesday.
